Pool Creek runs into Lake Lure, and is the site of the former tourist attraction known as "The Bottomless Pools." The upper end is now part of Chimney Rock State Park, but requires a hike from World's Edge Road. The section above the covered bridge that contains the famous pools is private and posted. I had tried three different times to fish from the mouth of the creek up to the covered bridge, with no luck, but I knew there were wild rainbows in there. I finally got them to cooperate this time, catching three on a bead-head nymph.
